New Post

-My son's school ended today. He will go to 4th grade in the fall. I can say that I reviewed 3rd grade with him. I always thought that schools are easy in U.S. but apparently not, at least not my son's school which is the best public elementary school in the county of San Diego. The expectations of teachers are very high and families work a lot with their kids so you have to work with your child if you don't want him to fall behind. I worked really hard with him, every night I would check his homework, would give him extra practice and tests and made sure he would do his readings as well! Poor thing he had a lot to do but at the same time schools are fun here too. They have lots of fun activities for them so they create a good balance between academic work, sport, art and technology. I remember schools in Iran at my time was horrible, it was all about writing over and over and memorizing stuff without making things more interesting or fun for us! Kids could not wait until the end of school year but my sun is already sad that he is not going to go to school in summer and see his teachers and classmates!!!!!!!
-This summer, we have decided to have a less expensive vacation so we will have a road trip to Northern California. We will go through highway 1 which is a beautiful coast line highway and is passing by the beach all the way. We will stay at Santa Barbara for one night and will visit small towns on our way and then head to San Francisco to spend some time with my cousin. On our way back will stay at Carmel which is one of the most beautiful places in California. We thought this would be a good experience for kids too. But in last few days I have been missing Iran and my brother a lot. Although I know how hot it is in summer there but I was fantasizing yesterday, that I wish my dad was alive and my parents still had our apartment in Mirdamad, I would go to Iran for 5 weeks with kids and would stay with my parent and we would all go to Isfahan and Shiraz to visit family and kids would have tons of fun. I miss my dad a lot, although it is more than 20 years that he has passed a way but I think about him a lot, every day that I pray for my family I pray for his soul too. I feel he is so close to me and overlooks me.
-Election is getting close and I truly hope president Obama gets re-elected. Unfortunately money has a big role in U.S. elections, republicans have very rich supporters and they pour money to their campaigns and attack president in every possible way they can by their advertisements. Lots of people fall for these political advertisements and that can shift their minds. The problem is that unemployment is still high and Europe is not doing well at all and that impacts U.S economy as well. Lots of big corporations in U.S. are sitting on cash and have lots of profit but they don't want to invest or hire people for two reasons, one is breaking down this president and his administration and the other reason is they are not sure what will happen in Europe so they rather keep their cash! I hope President Obama can defeat them again. I am worried about Iran too, god knows what will happen there, people are suffering so much because of sanctions but no one is confronting the government, they are so scared. I am so sorry for those who lost their lives or are still in prison like Nasrin Sotoodeh. It seems people have forgotten about them. Oh well I cannot judge people when I am not there and am not in their shoes!
God helps the whole world and especially Syria, Iran, Africa…

Work

-Everything is almost same in my life. My boys are growing fast; my older son will turn 9 years old on Sunday. Time flew. It was just like yesterday that my husband and I were so excited when we found out I was pregnant. My first boy was a very challenging kid to raise but recently he has become a lot more mature and is a very polite, loving kid. The second one is still my baby, he is very cute and personality wise very different from his brother.

-We have a new member in our team at work. She joined our team about 3 months ago. Unfortunately she is working on some pieces of the project that I have been leading. My boss told her from the beginning that I have done almost the whole development and she should ask her questions from me. I tried to be nice and helpful to her but from the beginning she had bad attitudes, especially whenever I tried to explain how we do things here and what the standards are. She acted like she knew it all and she did not need any guidance. Any way I tried to have as minimum interaction with her as possible. To me she is rude and wants to act that she knows better but she does not, we all can see that she is struggling and is not in the level that my boss expected. One of the things about my work that I always liked was working with people in my team that were not pain in the neck. But since this woman has joined our team she annoys me a lot. Usually when people come to a new work place they try to follow the new team's standard at least in the beginning but she just keeps arguing with us about how we do things!! The funny part is she is not that knowledgeable and does not know some basic concepts! I wish I would win the lotto and would not need to work!!!!!!
